FAQ

How big is your troop?

We currently have ~ 20 girls registered with the troop. Each squad within the troop is led by a minimum of two trained adult volunteers.

Pathfinder (Kinder) ~   Tenderheart (1st – 3rd) ~ Explorer (4-6)   ~ Pioneer (7-8) ~ Patriot (9-12)

Is TX1180 a Catholic troop?  Do you have to be a St. Anthony of Padua member to join the troop?

AHG is a Christian organization, and while St. Anthony of Padua (STAOP), our chartering organization, is a Roman Catholic parish, our troop is not specifically Catholic.  We welcome any families who are comfortable participating in activities that include prayer, references to scripture, and acknowledgment of our life in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Leaders (not girls) sign a statement of faith (www.ahgonline.org ).  Each girl will be required to do a faith award for at least 1 year of the program group (TH, EX, PI, and PA).  There are various versions for Catholic and non-Catholic options.

Does a parent need to stay at every meeting?

While parent attendance requirements vary based on their daughter’s age, in general, a parent is expected to participate in Troop meetings or stay on STAOP campus during the meetings.  In addition, we have a parent participation requirement to ensure that all families are contributing to the functioning of the troop.  We encourage all parents to take an active role in the troop structure.

I have other small children.  Can I bring them with me to the AHG meetings?

Due to recent changes, we will be unable to have small children attend meetings unless they are registered members of AHG.  All volunteers and children must be registered with AHG and have valid paperwork on file in order to attend meetings.  This is to protect the safety of existing members and leaders.

Do you have events on days other than Mondays?

Yes, we have optional events such as service opportunities, outdoor events (including camping trips), and other special events.  We are all busy families and recognize that not all members can attend every event.  Each family chooses which events to attend.

Do you meet over the summer?

There are no formal troop meetings.  However, we will have social gathering opportunities for the girls to remain connected throughout summer breaks.
